  • Information Social norms are the informal rules of appropriate behaviour within a group. They consist of shared beliefs about which behaviours are typical and appropriate within the group. Social norms can influence or uphold behaviour, and they are typically maintained by social approval or disapproval for engaging in a behaviour (referred to as “social sanctions”)
