Tant dans le domaine des droits de l'homme que de la sécurité alimentaire, l'expression « groupe vulnérable » renvoie à des groupes de personnes qui, pour des raisons d'ordre physiologique, sociopolitique et socio-économique, ne peuvent jouir autant que d'autres des droits de l'homme, qui sont victimes d'insécurité alimentaire ou risque de le devenir.

- En ocasiones, se usa como sinónimo el término “grupos desfavorecidos”. Los grupos vulnerables comprenden comunidades indígenas; minorías étnicas, lingüísticas o religiosas; ancianos; discapacitados; portadores del VIH; enfermos de sida; refugiados y desplazados dentro de sus propios países. Las mujeres y los niños también suelen incluirse dentro de estos grupos. Otros grupos vulnerables, definidos por sus estilos de vida particulares, incluyen la población pobre del medio urbano, la población rural sin hogar y los pequeños agricultores. (es)
