Tant dans le domaine des droits de l'homme que de la sécurité alimentaire, l'expression « groupe vulnérable » renvoie à des groupes de personnes qui, pour des raisons d'ordre physiologique, sociopolitique et socio-économique, ne peuvent jouir autant que d'autres des droits de l'homme, qui sont victimes d'insécurité alimentaire ou risque de le devenir.

- The term “disadvantaged groups” is sometimes used as a synonym. Vulnerable groups include indigenous peoples, ethnic, linguistic or religious minorities, elderly people, persons with disabilities, individuals living with HIV/AIDS and refugees and internally displaced people. Women and children are also often included as vulnerable groups. Other vulnerable groups, defined by livelihood characteristics, include urban poor, rural landless or smallholder farmers. (en)
