  • Information You will find other terminologies such as public property, public ownership (e.g. "... the ownership of waters is vested in the Crown"), public trusteeship, public domain. In francophone countries the term "domaine publique" is used. The term refers to the status of the water on the one hand (public as opposed to private) and to the management of public waters on the other.
