Definition

Water charges is a term refers to the payments that a beneficiary makes for a water service (domestic supply, irrigation, etc.). The action of establishing the price, or tariff, on the basis of which water charges are calculated is often referred to as water pricing but is clearly very different from the formal economic ‘pricing’ of water as a natural resource, where the notion of shadow pricing applies.
