echolocation

Definición

  • Information Echolocation, or biosonar, is an active process, used by the species that have it for sensing the environment when vision is ineffective, for example at night or in turbid water. It involves the production of sound, and the reception of echoes that return from objects. By comparing the outgoing pulse with the returning echoes — which are modified versions of the outgoing pulse — the brain can produce images of the surroundings.
