Definición

  • Information Thermokarst refers to a permafrost related landscape characterized by a peculiar topography of pits, hummocks, depressions, and small ponds caused by the melting of ground ice and the settling or caving of the ground surface. Thermokarst also refers to the process by which these characteristic landforms result from the thawing of ice-rich permafrost or the melting of massive ice.
