Definición

  • Information Cryopreservation involves the storage of germplasm at ultra-low temperatures (usually in liquid nitrogen at − 196 °C), whereby all metabolic activities are suspended. It is a cost–effective option that allows for long-term storage, reduces the risk of loss (from diseases, disasters, etc.), requires limited space and minimal maintenance, and can offer extinct/selected genetic material for improved breeding in the future but does not allow for continued genetic adaptation.
