It is caused by the Infectious Haematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHNV), which belongs to the Rhabdoviridae family. IHN is characterized by symptoms such as darkening of the skin, bulging eyes (exophthalmia), abdominal swelling (ascites), and small hemorrhages on the fins and body.
