Mascaret: Lame déferlante à front raide progressant rapidement vers l'amont à marée montante dans certains estuaires, qui résulte le plus souvent de la propagation par faible profondeur d’une onde marée d’amplitude notable. Il peut se produire également lorsqu'un tsunami pénètre dans un estuaire.

Tidal bore: A high breaking wave of water, advancing rapidly up an estuary. bores can occur at the mouths of shallow rivers if the tide range at the mouth is large. They can also be generated in a river when tsunamis enter shallow coastal water and propagate up the river. Also called eager, mascaret, or tidal bore.
