The difference between this concept and those of acceptance and approval, the other modes of expressing consent to be bound by a treaty, is more one of terminology than of method. It should not be confused, however, with other uses of the term "ratification", which may also refer to the requirements of internal law regarding the submission of a treaty to a particular organ of the State.
