heatwaves

Definition

  • Information Geniş bir alanda üç gün veya daha fazla süren ya da sürmesi beklenen anormal ve rahatsız edici düzeyde, genellikle nemli, sıcak hava. (tr)
  • Information Heatwaves consist of period of abnormally hot weather that can last from a few days to months where the maximum and minimum temperatures are unusually high to a location. The minimum temperature is as important as the maximum temperature as cooler nights allow the body to recover and if the nights are unusually hot, higher temperatures will be reached earlier in the day and last for longer.

Scope note

  • Reference to extreme heat is commonly made in the context of heatwaves. Whereas extreme heat is defined solely by temperature magnitude, heatwaves include a temporal dimension of unspecified duration ranging from days to months. A spatial dimension of extent is also occasionally included in defining heatwaves. (en)
