Definition

  • Information Famine is the most severe phase of the IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification). It exists in areas where at least one in five households has or is most likely to experience an extreme deprivation of food. Starvation, death, destitution and extremely critical levels of acute malnutrition are or will likely be evident. Significant mortality, directly attributable to outright starvation or to the interaction of malnutrition and disease, is occurring or is likely to be occurring.

  • Information La Hambruna es la fase más grave de la CIF (Clasificación Integrada de la Seguridad Alimentaria en Fases). Existe en áreas donde al menos uno de cada cinco hogares tiene o es más probable que experimente una privación extrema de alimentos. La inanición, la muerte, la miseria y los niveles extremadamente críticos de desnutrición aguda son o serán probablemente evidentes. Se está produciendo o probablemente se producirá una mortalidad significativa, directamente atribuible a la inanición absoluta o a la interacción entre la desnutrición y la enfermedad.

  • Information L'état de famine correspond à la phase de sévérité la plus élevée de l'IPC (Cadre intégré de classification de la sécurité alimentaire). Il existe dans les zones où au moins un ménage sur cinq souffre ou est très susceptible de souffrir d’un manque extrême de nourriture. Des niveaux d'inanition, de décès, de dénuement et de malnutrition aiguë critiques sont manifestes ou risquent de le devenir. Une mortalité importante directement imputable à des états d'inanition évidents ou aux interactions entre la malnutrition et la maladie est présente ou risque d'apparaître.
