DEFINITION

  • A boreal ecosystem is an ecosystem with a subarctic climate located in the Northern Hemisphere, approximately between 50° and 70°N latitude characterized by forests and other wooded land consisting of cold-tolerant tree species, large rivers, lakes, and wetlands, with more surface freshwater than any other biome on earth.
