DEFINITION

Now commonly used as the common term for Euphausids, a family of crustaceans found throughout the world oceans. There are 85 species of krill, some of which are exploited commercially. The Antarctic Krill is Euphausia superba. Other species include Euphausia pacifica, Euphausia nana, Thysanoessa inermis, meganyctiphanes norvegica, Nyctiphanes australis.
