  • Capital-intensive fisheries with high production capacity and relatively high catch per unit effort. Characterized by relatively large vessels, high degree of mechanization, advanced fish finding/navigational equipment. In some areas of the world, the term is synonymous with fisheries for species that are used for reduction to fishmeal and fish oil
