The capabilities, assets and activities that rural people require for a means of living. (FAO, 2003. COAG/2003/7 http://www.fao.org/3/Y8349e/Y8349e.htm)
Note
Rural livelihood is a complex structure comprising of mostly agriculture, with part of the population diversifying into non-farm activities in order to attain a sustainable livelihood to get better income for their households.
Species which have a predator/prey or competitive relationship with the exploited species. (Fagetti, E., Privett, D.W., Sears & J.R.L. (comps.) and Hudson, J. (rev.) (2000) Aquatic sciences and fisheries thesaurus. Descriptors used in the Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Information System. Rome, FAO, ASFIS Reference Series (6, Rev. 2):)
Apatites are phosphate minerals, and it is the association of the calcium ions that is responsible for the characteristic hexagonal crystal structure and morphology. (Skinner, H.C.W.,Jahren, A.H. (2007) Treatise on Geochemistry, Pergamon, 1-69. https://doi.org/10.1016/B0-08-043751-6/08128-7.)
Nanofilms are thin films ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers in thickness. These materials exhibit unique chemical and physical properties, largely influenced by quantum behavior and surface effects. (Wikipedia. 2026. Nanofilm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanofilm)
Tropinota (Epicometis) hirta (Poda, 1761) (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae), a polyphagous agricultural pest that causes significant economic damage to fruits, vegetables and cereals. (Yalçın, Z. N., Yılmaz Kardas, B., Doğan, S., Varlı, S. V. (2025). Investigation of biodegradable insecticidal properties of different plant lectins on Tropinota (Epicometis) hirta (Poda, 1761) (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae). Turkish Journal of Entomology, 48(4), 383-398. https://doi.org/10.16970/entoted.1538480)
A technique for identifying specific DNA sequences that are bound, in vivo, to proteins of interest. It involves formaldehyde fixation of chromatin to crosslink the dna-binding proteins to the DNA. After shearing the DNA into small fragments, specific DNA-protein complexes are isolated by immunoprecipitation with protein-specific antibodies. Then, the DNA isolated from the complex can be identified by PCR amplification and sequencing. (https://lod.nal.usda.gov/nalt/336371)
Public-private partnerships involve a contract between a public sector authority and a private party, in which the private party provides a public service or project and assumes substantial financial, technical and operational risk in the project. (FAOLEX. 2025. Glossary https://www.fao.org/faolex/)
A bioscrubber consists of a gas scrubber and a biological reactor. In the gas scrubber, to-be-removed components are absorbed from the gas stream by the wash water. In the biological reactor, the pollutants that have been absorbed by the wash water are biologically degraded. The purified scrubbing liquid is circulated to the scrubber, where it is able to reabsorb pollutants. (https://emis.vito.be/en/bat/tools-overview/sheets/bioscrubber)
