Originally from Sudan, finger millet is mainly grown in eastern Africa (Uganda, Kenya and the United Republic of Tanzania) and southern Asia (India and Nepal). While India is the largest producer of finger millets today, it is also cultivated in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Malawi, Sudan, Zambia and Zimbabwe to a lesser extent.
