Definition
The release of glucose from glycogen by glycogen phosphorylase (phosphorolysis). The released glucose-1-phosphate is then converted to glucose-6-phosphate by phosphoglucomutase before entering glycolysis. (MeSH. 2024. Glycogenolysis. https://meshb-prev.nlm.nih.gov/record/ui?ui=D050261)

While a measure can also denote an action taken, in this context, it is clearly defined as something that can be observed and involves a measurement. A measure is defined as a “number or quantity that records a directly observable value or performance. All measures have a unit attached to them: inch, centimetre, dollar, litre, etc (FAO. 2022. Definition
A metabolic process that converts glucose into two molecules of pyruvic acid through a series of enzymatic reactions. Energy generated by this process is conserved in two molecules of ATP. Glycolysis is the universal catabolic pathway for glucose, free glucose, or glucose derived from complex carbohydrates, such as glycogen and starch. (MeSH. 2024. Glycolysis. https://meshb-prev.nlm.nih.gov/record/ui?ui=D006019)
