A chart of a major harmonic constituent (or of a semi-diurnal tide) constructed to illustrate the propagation patterns and to assist in the interpolation of tidal conditions and datum assessment at locations where no observations exist (especially offshore). Now frequently replaced by numerical modelling. (Australian Hydrographic Office. 2026. Tidal Glossary. https://www.hydro.gov.au/prodserv/data/tides/tidal-glossary.htm)
Production system characterized by (i) a low degree of control (e.g. of environment, nutrition, predators, competitors, disease agents); (ii) low initial costs, low-level technology, and low production efficiency (yielding no more than 500 kg/ha/yr); (iii) high dependence on local climate and water quality; use of natural water bodies (e.g. lagoons, bays, embayments) and of natural often unspecified food organisms. Instrument which measures, at more than one angle, the scattering function of particles suspended in a turbid medium; information obtained may be used to determine the size of the suspended particles and the visual properties of small samples of air and its suspensoids. The Syrian juniper (Juniperus drupacea Labill.) is a Tertiary relict that currently occurs in a restricted area. This exceptional tree is the only representative of the section Caryocedrus Endl. of the genus Juniperus L. and is conspicuous with extremely large seed cones and connected seeds that form a drupe-like structure. (Walas, Ł., Sobierajska, K., Ok, T. et al. Past, present, and future geographic range of an oro-Mediterranean Tertiary relict: The juniperus drupacea case study. Increment boring is a crucial, non-destructive technique for dendrochronologists to retrieve core samples with minimal impact on living trees. A hollow borer with a tapered steel cutting thread is drawn into the tree using a hand crank. The sampling process is designed to have minimal impact on the living tree, typically leaving only a small hole that does not compromise the tree’s health. (MacFarquhar, Charlotte & McGillivray, Lucas & Graves, Oliver & Riley, Archibald & Becker, Sid & Cusack, Dale & Newsham, Sophie. (2026). Borer Recovery Tool – a Lightweight Extractor for Increment Borers in Dense and Decayed Hardwood Trees.. Dendrochronologia. 97. 126522. 10.1016/j.dendro.2026.126522.)
Standing waves are waves that do not appear to move forward or advance in position. Rather, they oscillate or vibrate in place. A plucked guitar string is an example of a standing mechanical wave with two fixed ends. Standing waves occur when waves with the same frequency, wavelength, and amplitude interact. A market where goods are bought and sold in bulk, rather than by retail. (Warwickshire County Council. 2013. Glossary https://timetrail.warwickshire.gov.uk/searchglossary.aspx)
A key intermediate in metabolism. It is an acid compound found in citrus fruits. The salts of citric acid (citrates) can be used as anticoagulants due to their calcium chelating ability. (MeSH. 2024. Citric Acid. https://meshb-prev.nlm.nih.gov/record/ui?ui=D019343)
A broad-spectrum antibiotic derived from kanamycin. It is reno- and oto-toxic like the other aminoglycoside antibiotics. CAS Number 37517-28-5. (https://lod.nal.usda.gov/nalt/148761)
Trip length is the number of days between departure date and return date. (Definition of predictors and methods to derive predictors.

Note
Including time spent fishing ("fishing time"), but also time spent reaching the fishing ground. Sometimes these are the same duration (e.g. for shore based fishing), but almost never for vessels.
A gently sloping, fan-shaped mass of detritus forming a section of a low-angle cone commonly at a place where there is a notable decrease in gradient. (Glossary of Landform and Geologic Terms https://www.nrcs.usda.gov)
