A plant biostimulant is any substance or microorganism, in the form in which it is supplied to the user, applied to plants, seeds or the root environment with the Intention to stimulate plant processes benefiting nutrient use efficiency and/or tolerance to abiotic stress, regardless of its nutrient content, or any combination of such substances and/or microorganisms intended for this use.

Biostimulantien für Pflanzen sind natürliche Substanzen und/oder Mikroorganismen die mit dem Ziel der allgemeinen Pflanzenvitalisierung auf Pflanzen, bewachsenen Boden oder Saatgut appliziert werden. Die Verwendung von Biostimulantien soll das Pflanzenwachstum, die bessere Nährstoffausnutzung, die Widerstandskraft der Pflanzen gegen Stressoren fördern und im Boden festgelegte Nährstoffe verfügbar machen.
