The term “environmental inhibitors” refers to natural and synthetic compounds used to reduce non-CO2 GHG emissions from the agriculture sector or to minimize the loss of nutrients from cultivated soils, typically related to nitrogen fertilizer use and excreta from grazing animals. Environmental inhibitors include two major categories of compounds or their mixtures: methanogenesis inhibitors and nitrogen inhibitors.
