Genellikle tohumundan kabuğu, zarı ve embriyosu ayrılmış olandan yağı çıkarıldıktan sonra kalan, üretildiği yere, kabuklu veya kabuksuz oluşuna ve yağ çıkarma yöntemine göre besin maddesi kompozisyonu değişen, %32-%50 civarında ham protein içeren, metionin ve lizin bakımından fakir olduğundan proteininin biyolojik değeri tek mideliler için düşük olan, fosfor, demir ve kobalt bakımından zengin, çinko, bakır ve iyot bakımından orta ve kalsiyum bakımından fakir olan, fazla tüketildiğinde sütün lezzet ve tereyağının özelliğine olumsuz etki yaratabilen, daha çok gevişgetiren hayvanların beslenmesinde kullanımı önerilen yağ sanayi kalıntısı.
