Başta tavuklar ve hindiler olmak üzere güvercin, kanarya, serçe, bıldırcın ve diğer kanatlıların çiçek virüsünden ileri gelen, sakal, ibik, yüz, ağız ve göz kenarlarında, derinin tüysüz bölgelerinde, tüy foliküllerinde küçük lezyonlar ve siğil benzeri kabarcıklar, ağız, dil, yutak, gırtlak, yemek borusu ve soluk borusunun üst kısımlarında küçük veya büyük difterik zarlar oluşturan bulaşıcı ve bazen öldürücü, genellikle yavaş seyreden viral hastalığı.

Fowlpox is the worldwide disease of poultry caused by viruses of the family Poxviridae and the genus Avipoxvirus. The viruses causing fowlpox are distinct from one another but antigenically similar, possible hosts including chickens, turkeys, quail, canaries, pigeons, and many other species of birds.
