An official record or list of each land parcel, which shows the ownership details and rights associated with each land parcel. The land register is used to record the transactions with the rights. Changes to land parcel boundaries should also be recorded in the land register. The land register is usually open to the public to find out details of the land parcels, ownership and rights. Two main objectives of the land register are to protect rights in land and to make it easier and cheaper to sell, give, lease or mortgage those rights.
