DEFINITION

  • Movement of water in plants, which is driven by a process called transpiration. Once water has been absorbed by a root hair, it moves through the ground tissue before entering the plant’s xylem. Water potential, evapotranspiration, and stomatal regulation influence how water and nutrients are transported in plants.
