DEFINITION

Pulsed lighting is characterized by frequency (number of on/off cycles that occur per second) and duty ratio (ratio of ‘on’ time to ‘off’ time in one on/off cycle). The concept is to provide pulses of light at specific frequencies in order to optimize net photosynthetic rate.
