DEFINITION

  • Caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus (CAEV), is a lentivirus within the group of small ruminant lentivirus (SRLV) in the family Retroviridae. Causes caprine arthritis-encephalitis, a fatal, widespread multisystemic inflammatory disease which is responsible for major production loss in goats.
