Синдемія – це одночасне поширення епідемій різних хвороб у межах однієї популяції. Цей термін запровадила американська професорка антропології Мерілл Сінґер у середині 90-х. Синдемії розвиваються за умови слабкого імунітету, бідності, стресів, насилля. Приклади можливих синдемій: коклюш, грип і туберкульоз; СНІД та інші венеричні захворювання і т.д. У ширшому контексті синдемією називають поєднання не тільки хвороб, але і явищ, як от брак їжі, зміна клімату, соціальна нерівність.
