An experimental design in which the blocks should be composed of plots that are as homogeneous as possible. Further, blocks in the same replication should be as near as possible to maximize the variation among replication. These incomplete blocks are combined into groups that form separate, complete replications.

Muamelelerin bir tamsayının karesi olacak şekilde ayarlandığı, her blokta bu sayının karekökü kadar muamele denendiği, dolayısıyla her yinelenimde toplam muamele sayısının karekökü kadar blok olduğu, her muamelenin her bir muamele ile en az bir kere aynı blokta uygulandığı, böylece yineleme sayısının muamele sayısının en az karekökü + 1 kadar olması gerektiği deney planı.
