Koi herpesvirus disease (KHVD) is a highly contagious viral infection caused by Cyprinid herpesvirus-3 (CyHV-3). It primarily affects common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and its ornamental variety, koi carp, causing significant mortality in both wild and cultured fish populations.
