Transfer RNA (abbreviated tRNA) is a small RNA molecule that plays a key role in protein synthesis. Transfer RNA serves as a link (or adaptor) between the messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule and the growing chain of amino acids that make up a protein. Each time an amino acid is added to the chain, a specific tRNA pairs with its complementary sequence on the mRNA molecule, ensuring that the appropriate amino acid is inserted into the protein being synthesized. Practice consisting of moving livestock from one grazing ground to another in a seasonal cycle to optimize grazing, (Grazing with trees – A silvopastoral approach to managing and restoring trees. FAO Forestry Paper, No. 187, FAO, 2022 (https://doi.org/10.4060/cc2280en).)
An approximation is anything that is intentionally similar but not exactly equal to something else. In science, approximation can refer to using a simpler process or model when the correct model is difficult to use. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Approximation)
A tombolo is a sediment deposit at the coast formed by wave refraction and diffraction at the edges of an obstacle (natural or artificial) originally detached from the mainland. (de Mahiques, M.M. (2016). Tombolo. In: Kennish, M.J. (eds) Encyclopedia of Estuaries. Encyclopedia of Earth Sciences Series. Springer, Dordrecht. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-94-017-8801-4_349)
A transmission (also called a gearbox) is a mechanical device which uses gears to change the speed or direction of rotation in a machine. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmission_(mechanical_device))
Transpiration consists of the vaporization of liquid water contained in plant tissues and the vapour removal to the atmosphere. Nearly all water taken up is lost by transpiration and only a tiny fraction is used within the plant. (AQUASTAT Glossary, FAO, 2010)
Transference of a tissue or organ from either an alive or deceased donor, within an individual, between individuals of the same species, or between individuals of different species. (DeCS/MeSH. 2025. Transplantation https://decs.bvsalud.org/es/ths/resource/?id=14572)
Transport or transportation provides the physical means of carrying goods, people or animals from one place to another. (Adapted from FAOLEX. 2025. Glossary https://www.fao.org/faolex/)

For transport of nutrients in plants use <5272>; for transport processes in soil use <7202>
An electronic nose is an electronic sensing device intended to detect odors or flavors. The stages of the recognition process are similar to human olfaction and are performed for identification, comparison, quantification and other applications, including data storage and retrieval. Some such devices are used for industrial purposes. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_nose)
Fishing by means of devices able to trap fish in confined environment (traps, pots) often designed and baited to catch a particular species: crap pot, lobster pot, tuna trap, fyke nets. (FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, FAO, 2014.)
Fisheries targeting bait fish, small-sized fish species typically abundant in marine or freshwater ecosystems. Both recreational and commercial fishers catch bait fishes with the intention of using the fish to attract larger, predatory fish species to traps, hooks, or other fishing gears. The Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement) was adopted on 19 June 2023 by the Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction convened under the auspices of the United Nations. The BBNJ Agreement addresses four main issues: Marine genetic resources, including the fair and equitable sharing of benefits; Measures such as area-based management tools, including marine protected areas; Environmental impact assessments; and Capacity-building and the transfer of marine technology.
